LIBERAL Party nominations for the vacant upper house seat of Western Victoria closed Friday.
However, Ballarat mayor Joshua Morris remained tight-lipped about a bid for the seat, commenting he was “not allowed to talk about it”.
The seat has been left empty after former incumbent Aaron Lane stepped down earlier this month due to a series of inappropriate tweets.
Ballarat councillor, Samantha McIntosh, is also a contender for the position, and is seen as almost certain to be elected.
It is second only on the ballot to another Ballarat parliamentarian, Simon Ramsay.
Cr Morris is a Liberal Party member and sits on the Liberal Administrative Committee.
Western Victoria covers Warrnambool, Portland, Hamilton, Geelong, Colac, Ballarat and Horsham.
