We've finally made it! The days are warming up and we will enter the spring bathed in sun. 

But for today we just have to power through some morning drizzle before a sunny 16 degrees in the afternoon.

Winds southeasterly 15 to 20 km/h becoming light in the morning.

Ballarat Mayor Josh Morris will make the jump into state politics at this year’s election despite previously ruling it out. 

Cr Morris was selected on Monday night as a Liberal Party candidate for the upper house seat in Western Victoria. 

The open position is second on the ballot and is seen as almost a certainty to be elected into parliament at November’s election.

Six people have been arrested and a large amount of drugs seized following raids on eight houses in the Wimmera.

Leading Senior Constable Lee Thomson said police executed warrants at six homes in Horsham and two in Stawell on Monday as part of an operation into drug trafficking. 

"Officers seized an allegedly stolen vehicle, a quantity of mobile phones, a substantial amount of cash, green vegetable matter, 13 mature cannabis plants, a quantity of methamphetamine and other drug related items,'' he said.


Firies had a quiet Monday night, however participated in training.


Paramedics attended no trauma incidents overnight.


Train services appear to be running nicely along the Ballarat line.

However, Monday night proved problematic for passengers due to a shortage of carriages.


Tonight we will be attending the soccer friendly match between Ballarat Red Devils and powerhouse Melbourne Victory at Morsehead Park.
