BALLARAT police officers braved the cold on a sunny Friday afternoon to raise money for motor neurone disease, completing the ALS 'Ice Bucket Challenge'.

The 10 officers, ranging from constables to senior sergeants, were doused in freezing water at the back of the police station, with Senior Sergeant Wendy Lambert making an extra donation to make sure she got to throw a bucket over her former boss Senior Sergeant Peter McCormick.
"I had to make sure I got him," she said.
The station raised over $500 and expects to add more to the haul over the weekend, with the money going towards helping people with motor neurone disease.
The Ice Bucket Challenge has swept Ballarat after running riot all over the world on social media, with many linked to the ALS/MND cause championing it for raising millions of dollars and awareness about the illness.
Senior Sergeant Lambert spoke of the force's connection to the cause after the stunt, talking of the recent death of a nearby officer's wife from motor neurone.
The Ballarat officers were nominated by Bendigo police, and then made their own cheeky nomination – the staff of The Courier.
