Eleven choirs performed at St Patrick’s Cathedral on Sturt Street, before coming together for an all-in performance of Amazing Grace to close.
Organiser Margaret Lenan Ellis said it was wonderful to hear all the choirs.
“Everyone puts in so much effort and all the styles are so different,” she said.
Ballarat schools Phoenix P-12, St Columba’s Primary School and Ballarat Clarendon junior and chamber choirs all performed, contrasting with senior groups from Country Women’s Association and Sing Australia.
“It’s very special to see the young ones perform and do such a great job, from the younger children, to the older children, to adults,” Ms Ellis said.
Ballarat a cappella group VOX also put on a show, as well as the Deer Park Latter-day Saints young single adults choir.
“It was quite special and broadening for the Latter-day Saints choir from Melbourne to come and perform here – it was a bit of an inter-faith event,” she said.
The event is run by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, raising funds for UnitingCare’s services for the homeless in Ballarat at Ballarat’s most prominent Catholic church.
