Rangers stayed well in the hunt for a finals berth by defeating Vic Park 4-0 on Sunday - arguably their most important win of the season to date.
A Vic Park win would have made Rangers' task of closing the gap extremely difficult with three games remaining. Just three rounds ago Vic Park was sitting comfortably in the top four - just four points off top position.
However, the Vultures have gone through the a horror run - losing five games in a row and scoring just once in that time.
While they have stalled, Forest Rangers have picked up their game to win three one end against big guns Warrnambool, Sebastopol and now Vic Park.
The Rangers have passed some big tests, but there will be none bigger than the next one awaiting them - top team and title favourite Ballarat on a Morshead Park synthetic pitch on Saturday.
It is a huge week ahead for the BDSA with mid-week games and fixtures on Saturday and Sunday.
