The Vikings defeated the league champion 2-1 in the second semi-final at Morshead Park on Sunday.
Teenager Brayden Baker, who has spent most of this season playing under-17s, scored the winner from long range late in the second half of extra time.
Having had the better of Sebastopol in two of their three regular season meetings, Ballarat started favourite and firmed even shorter when Kossivi Akakpo scored getting close to half-time.
After a tight first half in testing wet conditions, the game opened up. The Vikings threw everything at it, but Ballarat’s defence stood firm. That was until James Robinson found a way through to level to scores with about 15 minutes remaining. and send the match into extra time
Ballarat now faces Forest Rangers in a cut-throat preliminary final.
