Evans, who has played in the club’s past five Central Highlands Football League deciders, said his side heads in with more confidence than its recent losses against Hepburn and Waubra.
“The (premierships) we have won have been fantastic, it’s wonderful and we’ve always been fairly confident going into those ones,” the Bulldogs captain said.
“But the ones we have lost, we’ve probably been the underdog. Yes, it’s disappointing when you lose them, but at the same time we’ve probably been lucky to get in. We have just played well enough on the day of the preliminary final to get over the line and get into the grand final.
“This year, we probably feel we are a bit more of a chance than we have been in the ones that we have lost.”
Evans, who was skipper in the successful 2009 season, said a third premiership in six years would be a massive achievement for the club.
“They’re wonderful things to win,” Evans reflected.
“The 2007 (flag) was special because the club hadn’t won one for so long. It was for the town and the club, while 2009 was different because it was almost like it was for the players.
“Any time you win a grand final it’s very special and I look back now and realise how special they are. I’ve been really lucky to play in the era and with the guys that I have.”
Daylesford and Buninyong will lock horns at Eureka Stadium from 2.45pm today in the last of four football grand finals.
Six netball deciders will also take place today, with the A-grade clash between Springbank and Hepburn kicking off from 2.30pm.
