Established in 2010 by brothers Chris and Tim Matthews, The Forge Pizzeria creates delicious wood-fired pizzas made with fresh, local produce and high-quality deli ingredients.
The fast-and-furious pace set in the pizza kitchen is all powered by the Forge’s centerpiece: a massive woodfired oven that turns out pizza after pizza for the 200-seat dining crowd - the “Forge” of the restaurant’s distinctive name.
Perfection, passion and fun are the driving tenets of business for the Matthews brothers.
They pride themselves on creating a casual, laid-back atmosphere for diners and producing delicious food from the best of local ingredients.
“All our ingredients are freshly prepared on the premises, and put into the wood-fired oven where the magic happens,” Chris Matthews said.
An interesting tidbit of family history went some way to inspiring the vision of The Forge Pizzeria, he explains: “Our grandfather Frank was a hard working Blacksmith in the Ballarat region, and at the heart of a Blacksmith’s shop is a fire they call the Forge. With a combination of the fire, great skill and plenty of hard work, great things are created.”
Getting involved with Good Food Month was a no-brainer for the brothers who say the event is a celebration of everything they try to promote in their cooking – helping to support local produce and demonstrate to visitors to Ballarat just how important quality local produce is.
It will hold a “Blacksmith’s Supper” similar to last year’s event with great local food and wine celebrated together in a relaxed, informal setting.
“We love bringing people together, to share an experience with great local food and wine with a specially designed menu from our chefs, all in an enjoyable atmosphere under the one roof,” Mr Matthews said.
The Forge Pizzeria will Host their Blacksmith’s Supper on November 11 from 6pm.
Tickets are $95 per person. Bookings can be made by calling 5337 6635.
