The Reds meet last season’s national youth league premier Melbourne City in the first of a series of Football Federation Association-sanction friendlies.
The young Reds will spend the summer playing Y-league teams when they have a bye in the national competition, which comrpises of two five-team conferences.
The McDonalds Reds will play against Melbourne Victory and Adelaide United, and possibly Brisbane Roar and the Central Coast Mariners over the next three months.
“This is a great opportunity for our best young Ballarat players to test themselves against some very good players from across Australia on a weekly basis”, Reds chairman Duncan Smith said.
Ballarat will feature goalkeeper Ryan Schorback, who for the Reds in one NPLV1 game last season and under-18 players such as captain Tony Antonetti, Zac Daniels, Marco Farrell and Cody Gale.
