One of those things is the food.
This Good Food Ballarat, Michelin star chef Mark Cooper and Sovereign Hill have combined the best modern techniques and those popular foods for a unique foodie experience.
It's all part of their An Evening In Ballarat event which will be held in the outdoor museum's newly renovated United State Hotel.
Manager of functions and events at Sovereign Hill, Danielle Neil, said diners will have a first-hand experience of the new venue and reinvented menu.
"This space is beautiful and distinctive, but we are taking this one step further by adding some amazing cuisine," she said.
"The entire experience will be unique - it's not everyday you get to dine on food prepared by a chef of Mark's caliber in such a unique environment."
Ms Neil said guests will be greeted with a series of canapes followed by a duo of beef tenderloins and braised ox cheek on English mustard potato crush and tomato mushroom salad for main and, a fresh take on a traditional pancotta for dessert.
"This menu will not disappoint," she said.
"Mark has reinvented our menu by taking modern techniques and the highest quality produce and using them to create dishes full of character reminiscent of the 1850s.
