Sculley has been inducted as a life member, while Morcom is the recipient of this year’s Keith Lawrence Recognition of Service Award.
Sculley has spent almost 50 years involved in the Ballarat league.
He started out as a trainer with Golden Point in 1968 and was made a club life member in 1987.
Sculley has continued in the role with East Point since 2001, when Golden Point and East Ballarat merged – also helping with the Golden Point and East Ballarat junior clubs, which remained separate entities.
His involvement has not been restricted to club level.
For the past decade Sculley has also been a trainer with the BFNL senior representative squad, as well as stints with various under-age teams at league and regional level.
The Sculley name is synonymous with the East Point and BFNL representative football and netball. His son Mark and granddaughter Emily are also trainers in the league.
Morcom has given service to Melton South over the past 14 years.
BFNL immediate past president Mick Toner said it was not so much the official roles that Morcom had held at the club that had made a significant difference, but rather the “unofficial” roles that had no titles.
He said these included attending training every night, being the first person to arrive to unlock facilities for all and last to leave after locking up; ensuring facilities were presented in a clean and tidy state on match days; checking on volunteers manning the gate, canteen and bar in his role as treasurer and being responsible for the finances of match day.
“All in all, Leigh is the most trustworthy person at the club and has ensured the financial stability of the organization as a whole,” Toner said.
The Keith Lawrence Award is named in honour of a Sebastopol Football Club stalwart.
