TWO bridges in Ballarat will undergo major upgrades as part of the federal government’s Bridges Renewal Program.
These upgrades mean local communities will have safer and more reliable road access.
- Michael Ronaldson
The City of Ballarat secured $470,000 for the two bridges which are located on Kennedys Rd and Miners Rest Road.
The Miners Rest Road bridge in particular will gain $375,000 to replace a 10 tonne limit bridge with a wider 70 tonne limit concrete bridge.
Ballarat Senator senator Michael Ronaldson, said bridges were vital in ensuring communities and local businesses have easy access to essential services, traffic movement and the efficient transportation of road freight.
“It is clear that the City of Ballarat has thought seriously about how well the two successful proposals address the program’s objectives,” he said.
“These upgrades mean local communities will have safer and more reliable road access. This will not only reduce the time taken to transport freight from farms and local industry, but increase productivity and economic gains.”
