Petrol prices have dropped all over Ballarat, but not everywhere.
You can drive down Howitt Street and pay $117.5 or $105.9 a litre for unleaded petrol.
Woolworths and Metro on Howitt Street are both selling at $105.9 a litre, as of midday on Wednesday.
But several petrol stations have kept prices high, including Woolworths across town in Sebastopol, which is still sitting up at $117.5 a litre, the same price as Caltex in Wendouree and APCO on Skipton Street.
A Woolworths spokesman said their price-following policy was the reason for the disparity.
“Woolworths aims to be competitive in a local fuel area. We act as a price follower, and move our prices up and down to ensure we remain competitive,” he said.
The race is on after world oil prices dropped to a record low, with Sydney seeing unleaded under a dollar per litre.
Crude oil is now down to under US$30 a barrel, from US$65 eight months ago.
