RISING star Amy Leeson is a genuine winning chance in Ballarat’s biggest amateur golf tournament, according to multiple champion Helen Pascoe.
Pascoe, who is now president of Ballarat District Golf Incorporated, said the Buninyong golfer had shown dramatic improvement since beginning the start of 2015 with a handicap of 34, which had now trimmed to a mark of just four.
“She’s just developed really quickly - (she’s got) a lot of natural talent,” Pascoe said.
The 16-year-old will have some tough opposition for the women’s title, however, with the likes of Pascoe and defending champion Kate McMahon among the top contenders.
It’s a more open battle for the men’s crown, it seems, with five players off a plus handicap as Midlands ace and multiple champion Craig Boucher looks to defend his title.
Competition will begin at Ballarat Golf Club on Saturday, move to Midlands on Sunday and conclude at Buninyong on Monday.
