FIFTY-TWO years after taking their first steps into the classroom at Golden Point Primary School, members of the class of 1971 gathered at Seymor’s on Lydiard on Sunday to remember days gone by.

The school was shut in 1993, merging with the Eureka Street and Richards Street primary schools to form Canadian Lead State School.

Event organiser Sandra Curran said the reunion had tied in with the Ballarat Girls School reunion which took place on Saturday.
“It was a very spur of the moment thing,” Ms Curran said.
“Some of us were going to the Girls School anniversary and we said lets get the gang back together.”
Classmates from as far as Toowomba and Cairns made the trek to Ballarat to reminisce about their early education.
Now living in Weatherboard, Ms Curran said she still kept in contact with many of her former classmates. “Some of the girls keep in touch over Facebook, and I see some of the guys around all the time.”
