A MASSIVE first innings from the North Ballarat Cricket Club was enough to secure victory in Sunday’s Twenty20 match – but not without a scare.
Playing against the North Ballarat Roosters in the annual lighthearted event, the cricketers managed to hit a total of 5-184 to set the footballers a tough assignment.
Opener Sujith Krishnamoorthy dominated for the cricketers, scoring 67, while Scott Wright and Hugh McGregor made 32 and 21 not out, respectively.
A strong start from the footballers almost put a spanner in the works, though, with Sam Hooper scoring 82 in a blistering effort.
However, the football team simply ran out of time, scoring 5-167 off the allotted 20 overs.
North Ballarat Cricket Club captain-coach Adam Eddy said it was a great occasion.
“We had a lot of fun, there was a fair bit of banter and it just keeps us a bit more united,” Eddy said.
