The day featured the reunion of the Golden City Jazz Band, with Herb Jennings (trombone), Bob Pattie (cornet), Garry Richardson (reeds), Bob Franklin (piano), Tony Orr (banjo, guitar), Alan Stott (sousa) and Richard Opat (drums) taking to the stage.
Ballarat Jazz Club member Marie Wilson said the club formed after the Australian Jazz Convention held a Christmas event in Ballarat more than three decades ago.
“We’re pleased that we haven’t fallen in a heap (after 30 years),” Ms Wilson said.
“We try to encourage young people to get involved.”
A visiting Canadian outfit called the Mike Field Quintet is set to play for the club on March 6.
