NEIL Phillips has been inducted into the Ballarat City Brewers Baseball Club’s legends hall of fame.
His is the sixth member to receive the accolade in the club’s 85-year history.
Phillips has been with the club since 1973, playing 640 games after starting out in the under-15s and being a multiple premiership player. He also played in provincial and state levels.
He has also coached, and served terms as president (four years) and vice-president while on the committee for 27 years.
He has been a life member since 2004 – one of numerous club awards.
Phillips joins the late Alex Aikins (inaugural club president 1931-1956), late Ron Clack (president, treasurer, club coach and player 1938, 1946-54, 1957-72), Peter Ditchfield (treasurer, secretary and player 1953-1976), John Peddlesden (president, club coach and player 1973-83, 1985-87) and John Wakeling (treasurer, secretary, club coach and player 1961-69, 1971-1998) as members of the hall of the fame.
