VIVACIOUS Emily Crockett knows the difference between ABC and Do-Re-Mi – or she will as she takes the stage in the Melbourne production of The Sound of Music.
The 13-year-old “all-round” dancer is looking forward to embracing her Austrian heritage as she takes the role of one of the von Trapp children next month.
Emily will play Louisa – a “cheeky” 13-year-old girl who doesn’t mind playing tricks on the star of the show Maria.
“She’s the cheeky one – she puts the frog in Maria’s bed,” Emily said.
“I’m very excited. I’ve watched the Sound of Music since I was very young.
“My grandparents are from Austria, so it means even more to me.”
Emily is looking forward to singing The Lonely Goatherd that involves a lot of yodeling.
“It’s vibrant and energetic.” Emily’s parents Darren and Christine couldn’t be prouder of their daughter, who has been dancing since she was five. Mr Crockett said he had found his old Sound of Music record which Emily dances to every morning.
