A NEW creative element will feature at this year’s Ballarat Begonia Festival.
The ‘Gardens of Reflection’ sculpture park will showcase various sculptures throughout the Botanical Gardens.
Emerging artists from Ballarat and the region have created 12 works to add another creative aspect to the three-day festival.
City of Ballarat councillor Samantha McIntosh said the idea for the sculpture park was based on an exhibition at Dunkeld, Grampians, where a Ballarat artist featured.
“It’s exciting when you see local artists exhibiting their works around the state,” Cr McIntosh said.
Sculptors will be on hand throughout the festival to demonstrate how they work with different materials, giving festival-goers the opportunity to have a go themselves.
Visitors will be encouraged to vote for their favourite piece of art through a people’s choice competition.
The Ballarat Begonia Festival will be held at the Botanical Gardens from March 12 to 14.
