Ballarat train commuters still hold fears of more problems on the Ballarat line, despite the return of peak services on Monday.
Last week the public transport minister Jacinta Allan announced the changes following work to reduce wheel wear and deal with an array of maintenance problems.
It follows months of despair for commuters who have had more than eights months of pain due to a variety of issues.
This includes the failed launch of the Regional Rail Link project, which created a number of new problems for the troubled train line.
Public Transport Users Association regional spokesperson Paul Westcott said commuters still had a belief more problems may appear, with confidence in the service at a low.
“We are still unsure of the reason for the wheel wear and what the solution will be,” he said.
“With the service it seems once a problem is solved, a new problem pops up.”
Mr Westcott said he was eagerly anticipating the release of the final Monash University technical report into the cause of the faster than normal wheel wear.
The report is expected to be released later this month.
