SEBASTOPOL Vikings’ season is up and running after the team collected a point from its round one road trip to battle Point Cook on Saturday.
The Vikings finished with a 2-2 draw against the hosts, which trailed 2-1 at the break before equalising late in the second half.
Pietro Angeli found the net and won the penalty which Ryan Rykers converted in a great debut for the Vikings.
Vikings coach Michael Busija told The Courier he was happy enough with the result given he probably would have accepted a point if it was offered before the game.
Busija said his team had two good chances to score a third goal in the closing minutes, but they were ultimately to no avail.
“Leading with 10 minutes to go, you want to get all three points, but I think a draw was a fair result,” Busija said.
Sebastopol will host Surf Coast in its first home game of the Football Federation Victoria men’s state league four season next Saturday.
