BALLARAT RSL senior vice-president Alan Douglass is humbled by growing support this community shows for veterans each Anzac Day, starting with the annual appeal.
Volunteers, mostly veterans, will be selling their trademark badges and tokens from Monday. Mr Douglass says some volunteers in Ballarat work all day, every day for the fortnight-long Anzac Appeal.
“We’ve always enjoyed great support from the community in Ballarat and hope this will continue,” Mr Douglass said.
This year marks the RSL centenary. The Anzac Appeal continues to fund welfare for veterans and their families, including a younger cohort of veterans from conflicts and peacekeeping operations in East Timor, Iraq and Afghanistan.
