The Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP) and Parks Victoria will carry out the Ballarat – Shuttleworth Rd burn, north of Ballarat.
Smoke from this 16-hectare burn will be visible to Glen Park, Invermay, Nerrina, Chapel Flat, Brown Hill, Gong Gong, Ballarat North and from the Western Highway.
Forest Fire Management Regional Manager, Grampians Forests and Fire Operations Peter Kambouris urged visitors not to enter any area where a planned burn is happening.
“We have carried out planned burns in this area for a number of seasons, working closely with key stakeholders and advising the local residents over a number of years,” Mr Kambouris said.
“Planned burning is a vital part of the fuel reduction work conducted throughout the year by highly skilled fire crews from DELWP Forest Fire Management and our partners, CFA, Parks Victoria, VicForests.”
If you see smoke and want to know if it is a planned burn or a fire, you can call the Victorian Bushfire Information Line on 1800 240 667.
