SPEEDING drivers were among those nabbed by police for flouting the law during the state-wide Operation Tribute.
Thirty-four drivers were handed out infringements for speeding, with a further nine fined for driving an unregistered vehicle. Police charged six people with drunk driving offences and one with driving offences.
Ballarat Highway Patrol acting Senior Sergeant Ben Young said police were encouraging drivers to share the road and take care when driving. “Speeding drivers continue to over represented in state wide operations,” Acting Senior Sergeant Young said.
He said police were also frustrated at the number of people driving with a prescribed content of alcohol higher than the legal limit. Drivers were picked up for:
- Drunk driving offences: 6
- Drug driving offences: 1
- Disqualified drivers: 1
- Unlicensed drivers: 3
- Speeding offences: 34
- Seatbelt offences: 3
- Unregistered vehicles: 9
- Impoundments: 1
- Cyclist offences: 3
