The fire which burned 20 hectares near Porcupine Ridge is under control. Another fire, 5 kilometres from Hepburn Springs is still out of control. Nine tankers are on scene.
CFA spokesman Gerard Scholten told Fairfax Media the fire had been in inaccessible country and trucks had trouble getting to all affected areas.
A bulldozer built a containment line to place an earth barrier between the fire and homes.
'We would ask any residents thinking about burning off over the coming days to think twice," he said.
4.10pm
More than 20 hectares have been burnt by a bush fire that tore through Porcupine Ridge near Daylesford just after midday.The bush fire is not yet under control.
Nearly two dozen units are on scene. The air wing has been brought in to control the fire.
CFA is warning residents that fire conditions remain high due to warmer conditions in coming days.
Residents of Wheatsheaf and Glenlyon are not under direct threat but have been advised to monitor conditions.
The CFA says:
There is currently no threat to Wheatsheaf and Glenlyon communities, but you should continue to stay informed and monitor conditions.
2.30pm
A watch and act notice has been issued for residents of Mahoney's Rd and Andersons Lane, Porcupine Ridge.
At least 18 firefighting units are on the scene of the bushfire which started at around 12.30pm. The fire is in dense bush land making access extremely difficult.
DELWP has supplied bulldozers to support firefighting efforts.
The bush and grass fire is travelling in a southerly direction from Porcupine Ridge Road towards Mahoneys Rd and Andersons Lane.
This bush fire is currently not yet under control.
Residents are urged not to wait and to leave now.

Bulldozers will soon been used by emergency services so they can access an out of control bushfire in heavy scrub near Daylesford.
More than eleven tankers are currently on the scene. A CFA spokesman said access issues were making it difficult for firefighters to control the blaze.
DELWP is sending a number of other vehicles to assist.

12.45 A bush fire is burning out of control in a remote part of Porcupine Ridge near Daylesford.
A CFA spokesman confirmed five units were on the scene of the grass and scrub fire with more units on the way.
Hepburn, Glenlyon, Porcupine Ridge and Daylesford brigades are on scene.
