WALKERS and runners in Ballarat can once again get moving in time with people across the nation for the annual Mother’s Day Classic.
The mass-participation movement takes place in almost 100 locations across Australia, from capital cities to tiny towns, to raise money for breast cancer research endorsed by National Breast Cancer Foundation. Research focus is on better treatment, better detection and better post-cancer support for breast cancer patients.
Ballarat will host six and 12-kilometre runs and walks for all ages on Lake Wendouree Parade, going anti-clockwise from Ballarat Botanical Gardens. Individual and team trophies are up for grabs.
About 1500 participants stepped out in the Ballarat event last year, despite chilly and wet conditions. There was a surge of late entries on the day.
For more details or to sign up go to mothersdayclassic.com.au. Walk-up entries will be accepted on event day from 7.30am at Lake Wendouree. Mother’s Day is Sunday, May 8.
