The Victorian Volleyball League will take place in Ballarat for the first time since the 1980s, with competition scheduled for The Arch Sports Centre this weekend.

Twelve clubs from around the state will be represented at the competition, which is the highest level of competition in the state.
While Ballarat does not have its own side competing, a number of the region’s finest volleyball players will feature for the Western Phantoms club, which is made up of representatives from around Western Victoria.
The club will have five teams in action across the weekend, in the men’s premier, reserves and division two competitions and the women’s reserves and division two.
Phantoms premier division coach and Volleyball Ballarat president Damon Minotti said the competition would provide an excellent opportunity for Ballarat locals to experience high quality volleyball. “It would be good to see people who don’t normally watch volleyball come for a look.”
The tournament will run across Saturday and Sunday.
