BALLARAT boxer Dylan Malia has fallen short of claiming the under-19 national heavyweight boxing championship on the Gold Coast.
The 17-year-old was crowned runner up in the 91kg heavyweight class after being beaten in the final by New South Wales fighter Damien Vaughan.

Malia met a similar fate in 2015 when he finished runner up in the under-17 heavyweight category following a loss on points in the final.
