CREATING with a passion to help, Urquhart Park primary pupils’ design brief focused on Cambodia.
Prep to grade six art classes challenged every pupil to appreciate the diversity of their communities through their art this term. Their finished product lines school corridors in a whole-school display. Teachers have shortlisted 10 pieces for inaugural statewide exhibition Our Sunset, My World. Three pieces will go on show at Federation Square among more than 100 primary, secondary and specialist schools’ entries.
All pieces will be available to purchase through silent auction to support education in Cambodian slums. Cambodian children’s paintings will be up for live auction on exhibition day.
Exhibition organiser Julie Lach and Cambodia Australia-New Zealand Exchange Mission president Kalyan Ky were impressed with the heart shining through each drawing at Urquhart Park. They shared a tour of corridors on Friday afternoon.
Our Sunset, My World is open one day only, July 23.
