BALLARAT cyclist Pat Shaw has ended his UCI career on a high with a top 10 finish in the Tour de Korea.
He filled ninth in the general classification - the leading Australian in the eight-stage event, which finished in Seoul on Sunday.
Shaw announced on the eve of the event that the Tour de Korea would be his last UCI race before retiring at the end of this road season.
The 30-year-old will round out his career with Avanti IsoWhey Sport in the domestic National Road Series, which resumes with the Tour of the Great South Coast in August.
Shaw, who finished 12th in the Tour de Korea in 2012, had his best result in Korea in the past week with a ninth in stage six.
He finished two minutes, 55 seconds behind winner Grega Bole from Slovenia.
Shaw is enjoying a fine year, with ninth in the national road race in Ballarat, sixth in the Oceania Continental championships and 11th in the Herald Sun Tour, as well as making his debut in the Tour Down Under in SA.
