Yvon Davis has recently published a book about Dutch gold miner Jan Vennik, a man who was perhaps in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Vennik was present at the Eureka Stockade in 1854, arrested and charged with treason along with 12 others.
Ms Davis meticulously researched public records and interpreted the contents of eye witness accounts published in local and overseas newspapers.
In her book, Jan Vennik - the Dutchman at Eureka, Ms Davis explores where the man came from and where he went after his acquittal.
Vennik was born in a small village in the north of the Netherlands and left his job as a carpenter in 1852, travelling across the world in search of gold at Ballarat.
Ms Davis will launch her book this Sunday at 2pm at the Art Gallery of Ballarat.
The 48-page book, which is locally designed, is available for purchase at bookshops across Ballarat for $14.95.
