Music students from all over Victoria were blowing their own trumpets in Ballarat this week. Or their euphoniums. Or their bass trombones.
The Wimmera Bands Group Music School was held in Ballarat for the first time at Phoenix P-12 Community College.
The school’s joint chief executive officer Peter Battersby said the 46th annual school featured “12 months of music theory in one week”.
Students, who applied online to take part in the school, played from 9am until 8.30pm daily. It will culminate in a Wendouree Performing Arts Centre concert at 1pm this Sunday, with gold coin donations to beyondblue welcomed.
Ararat’s Olivia McColl said the school really helped with her VCE music classes. “I also have a lot of fun and meet a lot of great people from all around,” Olivia said.
