BALLARAT Falcons drew with Northern Raiders in a low-scoring affair at Morshead Park Saturday night.
Both teams defensive structures were well on top over the course of the match. The Raiders scoring with their first possession courtesy of a Falcons fumble.
While the home side responded late in the second quarter to level the scores up at 6-6. And that was how it stayed for the remainder of the match.
Falcons coach Mark Kuntsi labelled his side’s defense “outstanding”, holding off numerous deep attacks late in the game.
Ballarat backing up its nail-biting season opener with an equally tense encounter on Saturday. Kuntsi was disappointed to not come away with the win but was pleased with the start to the season.
Falcons will get a true gauge of where it stands against the top-of-the-table Pakenham.
While it may only be round four, Pakenham has already opened up a 94-point differential from its three games.
