MEMBERS of the public are required to help form the Beaufort bypass public engagement group.
VicRoads is calling for expressions of interest to help assist the planning phase of the project.
VicRoads regional director Ewen Nevett said the group will play a key role in representing local interests as VicRoads and a specialist consultant prepare an Environment Effects Statement.
“We are still in the early stages of planning for a Beaufort Bypass to investigate route options and identify potential impacts a bypass may have in the area,” he said.
“Once a consultant is appointed, extensive work to prepare and exhibit the EES will start.”
Expressions of interest are sought for representation of local businesses, residents, local schools and service and sport clubs and faith organisations.
The bypass has been touted as a potential detractor from tourism in the township.
