A second goal in the dying minutes to captain Leah Cushion has sealed victory for ladder-leaders North United in the round 14 clash with Vic Park White on the weekend.
The contest was locked at 1-1 after Vic Park’s Kirsten Rush found an equaliser in the 52nd minute, and with the fixture looking set to end in deadlock Cushion managed to find the breakthrough with one minute of regular play remaining.
The win ensures United maintains its one point buffer at the top of the table, with Warrnambool following close behind. Vic Park White sit comfortably in third place with six rounds of the regular season remaining.
Warrnambool ensured they kept the heat on the front-runners with a hard-fought 1-0 success against the Sebastopol Vikings. After charging up the ladder, the Vikings have come off the boil with two consecutive losses.
In the final contest of the round, two goals to Isabel Unwin ensured Vic Park Blue got over the line against the Forest Rangers, winning the contest 2-1.
