The Sebastopol Vikings’ hopes of promotion at the end of the State League Four West season have drifted further after the Ballarat side suffered a 2-1 loss to Melton on Saturday.

The Phoenix were able to secure an early goal in the muddy conditions, before proceeding to lock down in defence. Despite changing structures the Vikings struggled as the home side found another goal.
While the Vikings were able to find a consolation goal in extra time, the result was beyond their reach.
