Port, sherry and other fortified wines are making something of a comeback, with a festival at Myrniong next weekend inviting visitors to discover why.
The Flavours of Moorabool food and wine-tasting festival will be held at St Anne’s Vineyard on Sunday, August 28, and will feature talks on the art and science of fortified wines along with fresh produce and gourmet taste tests.
The fortified wine masterclasses will be held at 1pm, 2pm and 3pm. Aspiring chefs will also be catered for, with a local chef creating a quick and easy family meal using Moorabool produce.
The festival will also include market stalls, vintage cars and demonstrations of sheepherding kelpies.
Events and activities for children include free crafting workshops, an insectarium and animals to pet and play with, a jumping castle and face painting.
Live music will be provided all day from 11am, and two pop-up restaurants will be available.
