We've done everything we can - no regrets...I'm sure Luigi will have something planned. He's always been a visionary.
- Athalie Bazzani
Luigi and Athalie Bazzani hope whoever takes over their beloved Pyrenees property shares their same passion for good food and wine, and the vision to take this multi-award winning business to the next level.
The couple are renowned for creating innovative cabaret dining experiences in Ballarat in the 1970s, including the glamourous La Scala.
They have long sought a buyer for their vineyard and finally have an auction date on September 16 and could possibly settle sooner.
Chinese investors have shown a keen interest, particularly with their appetite for five-star wine, only most want the Bazzanis to continue managing Warrenmang.
The Bazzanis were only too willing to help a new owner in an advisory capacity but it was time to step back from daily business operations.
“I love what I do. We live, eat, breathe and sleep Warrenmang vineyard. We just want to focus a little on other things in life,” Ms Bazzani said.
“...We want to be like grandparents who can offer advice and get to hand the business over.”
The Bazzanis have been on the Moonambel property, near Avoca, for 38 years. They purchased a few acres of vines and were there for the first vintage.
Their resort opened in 1989 and Ms Bazzani said there was synergy between the resort and vineyard, with guests enjoying and taking home their wines, sharing with friends, far and wide.
Warrenmang exports quality wines all over the world, earned a decorated record of prestigious awards and recognition.
For more than a decade, Warrenmang’s Black Puma Avoca Shiraz has been acknowledged as the flagship wine, consistently winning five-star gold medal rating year after year.
Mr Bazzani has a long tradition of making signature wines to mark milestone occasions and his last one-off creation Beyond, a shiraz-cabernet blend, is fast earning a reputation to rival Black Pumas’ elite status.
“We’ve done everything we can – no regrets,” Ms Bazzani said.
“We’re ready to move to the next stage of life. I’m sure Luigi will have something planned. He’s always been a visionary.”
