Police are on the lookout for a man who allegedly conducted an armed robbery and an attempted armed robbery on two milk bars in Ballarat east on Sunday afternoon.
Police said the man, wearing a dark hooded jumper, allegedly stole cash from a shop on Joseph Street at about 2.20pm before allegedly taking several items from another milk bar on the corner of Kline Street less than 10 minutes later.
Detective Sergeant Brett Caddy said the man was carrying a weapon similar to a machete and was driving a silver car.
Detective Sergeant Caddy said owners were "shaken up" by the incident, but confirmed no one was hurt.
The police air wing was called into the search and was seen conducting searches over the Brown Hill, Ballarat East and Canadian areas for over an hour during the afternoon.
