Ballarat Yacht Club will Christen two boats on its opening day on Saturday, October 29.
They include an $11,0000 dinghy for the club’s sailability program.
The second boat is privately owned by a club member.
Sailability is a worldwide program aimed at providing people of all ages and abilities an opportunity to experience sailing in an inexpensive, fun and safe manner.
Ballarat mayor Cr Des Hudson and Cr Sam McIntosh will be among guests at the opening, which will feature the traditional firing of a cannon.
The club begins the season’s racing program on Saturday.
The club is also again planning a series of “tackers’ junior sailing programs for primary and secondary school students in the new year, from January and running through to late April.
