I have represented Ballarat’s South ward with energy and passion for more than 10 years.
My aim is to continue to press for action on ward projects, funding and priorities.
While Ballarat needs cross-city development and planning, I want to ensure that this does not happen at the expense of day to day issues that impact those that live in the south.
I am extremely proud of what we have achieved as a council over the past four years. Highlights have included:
- Development of the Ballarat West Employment Zone
- Recreation investment of more than $20 million, for local communities
- The Engaging Communities Program for Buninyong, which resulted in more than $1.2 million being spent
- Resolution of the Civic Hall issue.
I know the South ward and its concerns well, having taught at both Sebastopol and Buninyong primary schools.
For the past 10 years, I have also co-ordinated a program for young mums. The school program runs from a house in Delacombe.
People who live in the city’s South ward know who I am.
They know what I have fought for, and that I place our community first, second and third.
I have the experience on council to strongly represent the ward, both in the chamber and with senior council staff, who know I expect straight talking, results and accountability.
We must work as a team to make sure the residents of South ward have their issues dealt with, and ensure that Ballarat continues to be a leader in regional Victoria.
I am asking for your vote to continue to fight for the South ward and to make sure there is someone on council to keep them all on track.
Peter Innes is a South ward candidate.
