National stamps dating back to the iconic Australian kangaroo series are among the stamps and coins available at this weekend’s Ballarat Eureka Stamp and Coin Fair.
Ballarat Philatelic Society secretary Jack Van Beveren said the biannual fair is always popular, with 400 people expected to attend.
“The public come in, some of them want valuations and some have been left something from maybe their mum or dad who has passed away and want to sell it,” Mr Van Beveren said.
“The growing market at the moment is actually more coins than stamps. People can get the coins in their change, so they collect them, whereas it’s becoming a lot harder to collect stamps.”
The free event features more than 35 dealer and club tables, door prizes, giveaways for children and free valuations.
The fair will take place between 9.30am and 3.30pm at Ballarat Specialist School in Wendouree on Sunday.
