
A 23-year-old man who allegedly shot another man in the stomach has been charged with attempted murder.
Police began investigating the shooting when a 24-year-old man took himself to the Ballarat Base Hospital on Sunday afternoon with a suspected gunshot wound to his stomach.
He has since been transferred to the Alfred Hospital in Melbourne.
The Courier understands he is in an induced coma, with his condition serious but stable.
Police allege the 23-year-old Wendouree man shot the 24-year-old man in the stomach in Wendouree on Sunday.
The 23-year-old man was arrested on Monday morning and has been charged with attempted murder and multiple firearm offences.
The accused, 23-year-old Jaime Brincat, appeared briefly in the Ballarat Magistrates’ Court for a filing hearing on Monday and was remanded until January 19 for a committal mention.
He made no application for bail.
