Bobby Petrass received a special gift in the lead-up to her 97th birthday – a bedspread made from around 275 ribbons won at craft competitions.
Mrs Petrass will celebrate her birthday on October 24, but the Streatham Craft Group presented the bedspread to her last month.
She won the ribbons at competitions, including the annual Melbourne Sheep Show, during her four decades with the craft group.
The group was established in 1972 to support sheep farmers and encourage the community to use wool when prices dropped.
“It was as much of the social aspect as well as using your time in a good way – because the men were always working,” Mrs Petrass said.
The bedspread will proudly be displayed across her bedroom wall at Kelaston Nursing Home.
