Salvatore has been named the Reds’ players’ player of the year.
Salvatore said he was “honoured” to receive the award.
“Hard work does pay off and being acknowledged by your fellow teammates is certainly something to be proud of,” he told the club’s presentation night at Morshead Park.
“I can’t thank them enough. Hoping for better years to come.”
Michael Trigger was other senior award winner.
He was leading scorer with 14 goals for the season.
Reds senior football director Andrew Burgess said the event showcased the breadth of talent at the club.
“Nelson Salvatore is an outstanding talent.
“His ability to impose himself on a game makes him one of the most dangerous players in the league.
“This award is great recognition of his outstanding efforts on the park this year,” he said.
Burgess described leading senior scorer Michael Tigger as a class act.
“He’s clearly a level above most others in the league.
Fourteen goals from midfield shows the depth of his talent and we look forward to seeing Michael achieve an even greater return in 2017.”
Ballarat also announced under-20 and under-18 awards.
Josh Lynch took out the under-20 players’ player of the year, while Ibrahim Ghulam won leading scorer with 11 goals.
Most valuable player Anthony Antonetti, most improved Nathan Kaspers and leading scorer Alex Worthington (14 goals) were the under-18 award winners.
Burgess said the 18-year-old Lynch had had a breakout year.
He said his consistency and uncompromising effort week-in week-out helped establish his credentials as a player of the future for the club.
The Reds’ junior presentation dinner is at Morshead Park on Saturday.
MEANWHILE, the Ballarat Red Devils board of management is continuing to work through the process of finding a new name.
This is part of a move to form a new entity for the long-term.
Members have put forward ideas via the club Facebook which will help with the decision-making process ahead of the new NPLV season.
