He made 101 not out for Melbourne, 4-272, in a win over Ringwood, 168 at Albert Ground.
Thomson combined with skipper Matthew Brown, 100, for a 181-run for the first wicket stand.
He faced 129 balls in a 190-minute stay at the crease, hitting 12 boundaries in his first appearance for Melbourne this season.
