Van Veen is a sculptural ceramic artist. Many of her earlier works are based on the human form, but more recently, she has focused on “organic, biomorphic forms”.
She thanked supporters who had donated funds to set up the BMAC Gallery, and the Village Bacchus Marsh shopping centre, which had provided a space for the gallery.
“We have achieved an enormous success in opening the BMAC Gallery in the Village shopping centre. Our immediate focus now shifts to preparing for our Makers Market that will be part of the Bacchus Marsh Strawberry & Cherry weekend in November this year,” Van Veens said.
Van Veen also said that BMACI’s long-term flagship activity, the Placemaking Project, continued to develop, with artwork being installed in the township’s main street but now requiring “serious funding” to proceed.
