Forget the three Rs – throng throwing, pool noodle fights and fort building are all on the curriculum at Black Hill Primary School this week.
And so is tennis, badminton, yoga, lawn bowls, skipping, beep tests and even circus skills.
The school is celebrating Health & PE Week to promote being active and healthy.
PE teacher Sally Gentle said the second Health & PE Week has been combined with Wellbeing Week, with visits from police officers and headspace counsellors, who spoke to senior students about body image.
There are also grade challenges plus a “challenge a teacher” session planned for Thursday.
“The children have gone from one activity to the other and they’ve all been so excited,” Ms Gentle said. “The sports captains have been taking activities with the classes as well, which has been great.”
She said fruit and vegetables and extra sports equipment have also been made available at recess. “We want to promote healthy eating and activity habits.”
