Champagne glasses were full to the brim during Melbourne Cup celebrations in Ballarat on Tuesday.
Fashion usually only seen at Flemmington made its way into venues like Seymours on Lydiard and the Lydiard Wine Bar, with festive patrons wearing fascinators, frocks and suits.
Ballarat’s Elvyn Harrison and Wendy Chandler sported their finest fascinators as they enjoyed the race day spirit.
“I’m excited for the Cup, the company, the drinks and food, the works,” Mrs Chandler said.
“I’m more excited about the champagne,” Mrs Harrison said.
Both women were at the race day celebrations at Seymours last year where they watched Ballarat’s Michelle Payne ride to Melbourne Cup victory.
Johannie Birt stood out from the crowd in an outfit fit for The Birdcage while attending the event with her husband Nick.
“I wanted to go with a bit of a vintage 1920s theme,” Mrs Birt said.
